Greenman: (SOLD)

About the mythology:

The Greenman is found in many cultures around the world. Mostly associated as a man's face surrounded by leaves. He is a symbol of rebirth and is said to bring good prosperity to your garden or vegetation. The Dryad is mostly known as female tree spirits in Greek mythology. In Greek drys signifies 'oak,' meaning- 'tree' or 'wood.'

About the figure:

Hand-made, as are all these figures. This is a combination of a Greenman, having the traditional leaves around his face as a mask....and a male Dryad, having a torso of a man emerging from the trunk of a tree. Built over a strong wire armature, he is mostly sculpted with Puppenfimo and other polymer clays. The basis of the tree "trunk" is mainly a piece of wood I found on my husband's parents farm in the Arizona desert. Parts of the trunk are sculpted from apoxie & painted to match the real wood to lend realism. Instead of arms, he has branches that were each sculpted from flexi-clay for durability. Leaves were added to each of his branches. One of my favorites to make for sure. He is about 16 inches tall.
